Anger And Pride

James 1:20: For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.

Anger believes that one deserves something better than what has happened. Pride believes one deserves better than what has happened. Anger and pride are partners. Except for anger about our sin and the sin of others, anger comes from pride.

1 Peter 5:5: Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

Humility knows that one deserves Hell and what happened was not Hell. Humility knows that it deserves worse than what happened. Humility and grace are partners. Grace comes from humility.

Humility and gratitude are also partners. Gratitude knows that it did not receive what it deserved and that it received something better than it deserved. Humility, grace and gratitude are a powerful trio that can overpower anger and pride.

James 4:6: But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

Hebrews 4:16: Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Ezra 3:11: And they sang together by course in praising and giving thanks unto the LORD; because he is good, for his mercy endureth for ever toward Israel. And all the people shouted with a great shout, when they praised the LORD, because the foundation of the house of the LORD was laid.

Luke 17:15-16: And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, 16 And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.

Ephesians 5:4: Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.

Ephesians 5:20: Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

Colossians 1:12: Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:

Colossians 3:17: And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

1 Timothy 2:1: I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

Hebrews 13:15: By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.

Upwards of ninety percent of the time, when I have had the privilege of sharing the gospel with someone and they receive Jesus, the first thing out of their mouth is Thank you. I encourage them to be thankful to God because He is the One who has done the work of saving them. One Strong*s concordance definition for the word grace: The Divine influence upon the heart, including gratitude. Humility, grace and gratitude are wonderful gifts of God and available to every believer. If humility, grace and gratitude to God permeate our lives there won*t be any room for anger or pride.
